i'm looking at buying a 92 xj 2wd with the 4speed auto 4.0 litre and it has 151,000 miles on it for 2000USD, the only problem with it is that the headliner is starting to fall in some places and the clear coat is starting to come off on the hood, what u guys think?

lol, this one is just for a vehicle to get me around town and back and forth to work for right now. Its not meant to be my final purchase. LOL

In the process of splitting this topic from a totally unrelated thread, bigtoepfer posted a reply at the same time. Above is his response.

the headliner slides right out the back of the jeep i replaced mine myself by takin off some of the headliner trim and pulling it right out then sliding th new one right back in u can do the tacks but it looks crappy and they don't normally hold it up the well replacing the whole headliner its self will solve that problem u can probably find a decent condition used one on at a local wrecking yard instead of going straight to ur dealer

I spent $7 dollars on fabric and glue and replaced it myself. Of course I went with orange!

you could also spend 4$ on contact cement if its if the hole thing is falling down , if the fabric is just coming off then simple upholstery spray on glue will do the trick .

with the paint you can repaint it . Smile

I would really think about that price 2000USD. I just bought a '93 XJ
2WD with 94,000 miles for $250 USD. All that it needed was a rocker
panel.

I just replaced my saggy old headliner with the kit I ordered from

www.wlsheadliners.com

I found it very easy and hardest part was removing all trim to release the headliner backer board.

I could probably do a better job if I did it over again but it is definitely an improvement over the old one which drooped all over the place.

I think it was about $42 total.

Don't over-do the spray adhesive! I mistakenly thought more the better! I over-saturated parts of mine but its not sagging anymore!
