Ok I've got a 99 GCL, 4 liter, automatic, 2 wheel drive.

It's got a strange idline problem. Doesn't do it all the time, but when it DOES do it, it's when the motor is hot. I'll shut it down to go into the store or something, come back out & start it up. Idle is rough. Put it in gear and do the parking lot crawl (riding the idle/brakes) the Jeep surges. It keeps lurching until I just completely let go of the brakes and let it ride full idle or get on the gas.

I've tried searching and couldn't really find anything. But I DID try the things I found. Replaced the Intake Manifold Gasket, Cleaned the Throttle Body (IAC) etc. Nothing seems to clear it up.

Any help???

Thanks for the reply!

I thought the same thing... I wen't through 3 different TPS's with the same problem.

When it happens, the idle is down to about 650-675 RPM. I just replace the IAC today. we'll see if that works.

In the event that it DOESN'T... Any other suggestions???? The only other thing I can think of is the ECU.

I was going to suggest the IAC but you got that now.. It will probably fix your problem..

Disconnect your battery and turn on the key.. For about 2 minutes.. Then reconnect the battery it will reset the computer.. That may be what it needs..

Good luck..
