I got into my Jeep last night to go get dinner and backed up my brake pedal went to the floor and it started flashing brake and beeping. I have a full reservoir and no visible signs of leaks. Its an 06 wrangler with under 9000 miles on it. Anyone else have a problem like this?

9,000 miles, I would limp with the e-brake, right to the dealership and let them find the source. If it went to the floor there has to be a break in the system somewhere!

Use your warranty and the free Roadside Assist service. Let Jeep worry about it.

I used my warranty tow and the dealership does not want to cover under my warranty. They said something contaminated the brake fluid. The system has never been touched so now I am trying to go through corporate to resolve the situation.

I thought it could be brought to any Jeep dealership for warranty purposes. If so get a second opinion or third if need be. Don't settle for their bullshit!!!

I dont have ABS. I spoke with Jeep customer service and they dealt with the service manager. They say that there is something other than brake fluid in the system and that its not a manufacturer defect so they wont honor warranty. The jeep has never been serviced except for an oil change that I did, the brakes have never been touched. I spoke with an attorney today and said after wwe fgure out whats in the system I may or may not have a case of breach of warranty. for the time being I'm going to have it towes home and figure out what I can do. Thanks for the responses, I'll post the outcome. pissed

So I tried to get my brakes taken care of but jeep would not perform the service under warranty. I've spoken with customer service, the service director, other dealerships and sevice advisors from other auto dealerships and a lawyer, they all say I'm screwed. So now I'm left to do the repairs on my own. I've done all the required wor on other cars before but I'm not sure about a brake system flush. I don't want screw up my new parts. Does anyone have any helpful hints? Thanks in advance!

the dealership is full of crap, you have a bad master cylinder, or proportioning valve, thats what causes the light to flash, from the sensor in the side of the valve

you might look for a recall on the dedicated jeep site

if you bought the jeep used or had the master cylinder replaced before, there is a recall on parts and or this could be whats happening with yours
http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2000/jeep/wrangler/recalls/index.html

i know this says 2000 jeeps but you could have gotten a bad one on yours
or check this out

When my master cylinder failed I had the same problem.

When my prop valve failed I had the same problem.

Needless to say I aim for trees when I wheel. Wink

Why are you paying a Dime? That should be under warranty. Hell I'd even charge them for the tow.
