Hi,
I've got a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has 95,000 miles on it. It says in my owners manual that I should have my transfer case drained and refilled and also my front and rear axels drained and refilled. I had this done by Midas at 50,000 miles, should I pay to have it done again? Is it really imporant?
Thank you. Rolling Eyes

yes it is important , just as important as any other fluid change .

the t-case is really easy , just unscrew the drain plug let it drain put the plug back in remove the fill plug and fill it up till oil comes out of the fill hole .

diffs are more complicated , you should actually take the diff cover off and clean out all the bits of metal inside . midas just sucks the fluid out and doesn't get the metal bits in the bottom , you can put a magnet on the drain plug but i would just pop the cover . its really up to you .

the transfercase takes ATF and the differentials take gear oil , it has to be ep oil i use 80-90 , or a synthetic gear oil .

Thank you for your respose. I ended up taking it to a Chrysler dealership near my house. To do the differental plus the front and rear axles they wanted $280. I know it's too much but I can't get around like I used to.
Thanks again.
