I started to replace the alternator on my 1994 cherokee limited today and whilst taking the battery out I noticed a black box screwed onto a chassis with a fuse inside. Where the fuse went into the box I noticed that the plastic had melted and dribbled slightly. I pulled the fuse out and half of the metal is gone.

I obviously stopped changing the alternator... now my question is... what is this fuse and what is the box?

Do I just need to replace the fuse or the whole box?

Thanks,
Nikki

OK it might not be too bad. Just checked out the fuse part number (003 510-36) and it appears that it's for the Hella fog lamps. These lamps have not worked since I got the jeep... I assume the busted fuse is the reason why.
