This may sound like a retarded question but per my other topic I am redoing my whole ZJ... Since I have never done anything like this I am pretty clueless but I am making steady progress... However I am tryign to remove my t-case out of my 97 ZJ... I took the driveshaft off the back and an now unbolting it from the transmission... There was abunch of studs with nuts on them in a circular pattern around it and now there is only one: One the very top... I can hardly get two fingers up there above the T-casr let along a wrench or socket... How the *^*_ am I supposed to get the thing off?

I am at work but really hoping to get the t-Case off this evening so any help would be really appreciated...

Thanks.

Are you serious?

I still think it would be to long if so and I doubt I could get the leverage needed at that angle... Still I will try it if no one has any other suggestions.

That bolt is a pita! If you unbolt the corssmember while supporting it with a jack, you can lower it just a bit. That might help, but make sure you're careful, you'll be lowering the t-case, tranny and engine. Put the bottom bolts back in so the t-case doesn't seperate from the tranny. Once you get the top, jack it back up and reposition the jack under the tranny . Then pull the bottom bolts back out and rip the t-case out!!! I remember only being able to turn the bolt about a 1/4 turn each time, if that!

Yeah... I will have a buddy with me to help lower the T-case as well as the whole thing... I don't have a floor jack or anything so I will have to do it carefully and cleverly but I won't need much extra clearance...

Thanks guys!

That's funny! I'm always the one fixing everyone's sh!t, but when it comes time to work on my vehicles, no one is ever around. Sad So I end up doing it by myself. It's fun lifting those t-cases in solo! Mr. Green
Help would be nice, but my bastard friends don't like to get their hands dirty! Twisted Evil
