Guys,

Has anyone used LoD products? I'm looking into getting their rocker guards, which are only about $250. I know the concept of getting what you pay for, but it looks like they are the same dimensions as all the other companies...3/16 steel and powdercoated.

Take a look at the link and let me know what you guys think.

Thanks!

I can't say as I have ever used any of there products, but.... I Have bought plenty of seemingly great deals similar before.. I've found a few times that the so called powder coating is nothing more than black spray paint that chips off after a few months. I guess all I'm saying is be carefull you may not get what they claim.

I have the LoD rear carrier and have never had a problem with it.

I however opted not to get the LoD rockers because I wanted something with more coverage. As well if you plan on using your rockers I would spray paint them because power coat sucks when your trying to retouch it up. Wink

If you use your rockers you will want to touch them up now and then and nothing is easier than spray paint.

well i have the warn front and rear bumpers with the tire carrier and they chip/rust like crazy. i have to sand and re-paint (spray) them every so often to make sure the rust i do get is just on the surface. i think 'kickeraiwa' is right...companies throw the term powdercoating around easily. a buddy of mine brought his rockers into a local LINEX shop...maybe he's onto something.

I am sort of curious: I see people say a certain companies products never rust or anothers rust very easily... Is there really THAT much difference in the metal? I mean there can't be THAT many different steel manufactures out there and it seems the art of steel making would be fairly consistant given how long it has been around.... Does it all have to do with the paint?

Sorry to hijack the thread I just noticed the one guy mentioned his bumpers rusted like crazy and have been wondering about that for awhile.

**ALL STEEL WILL RUST IF LEFT BARE AND UNPROTECTED** that's just the way it is.

now...i think the real issue here is how the steel is covered. powdercoating if it doesn't flake or chip off will not rust and will be fine. the products that i have seen and used flake and chip paint off all the time and this is from warn to bushmaster to poison spider. so how do you combat this? like i said...maybe my buddy is onto something with this linex'ing biz...

I had one of their rear swingouts on my old TJ. Wasn't great, wasn't bad...it worked for me. Bought it basically for the same reason as everyone else that gets LoD stuff, it's cheap. Guess that's not either a ringing endorsement or a scathing review Mr. Green .

I have both front and rear/tire carrier bumpers. I havent had any problems with the swing out tire carrier.

I have WARN rockers but thought about buying LoDs for the welded on step. I'm dont how different the mounting hole pattern is between the two manufactures. I dont know that I want to add more holes to the rocker.
