I was pondering the pro's and con's of Herculiner as I lay in bed waking up, and the biggest drawback of Herculiner in my eyes is that it's not excellent at sound deadening, and no way in smegg would Dynamat ever stick to it.

On the other hand, if I put down Dynamat first (the rubbery kind, not the tar kind), that rather defeats the anti-rust-ness of bedliner. So it's occured to me that it MIGHT work to lay down some POR-15 for rustproofing, and then roll out the Dynamat for sound deadening and then put on a top layer of Herculiner for raw toughness. I know first hand that Dynamat will stick to POR-15. No problems their. My question is with the Dynamat/Herculiner bond.

Since the Dynamat is fairly soft, like rubber, will the Herculiner flex WITH it when your cargo digs into it, or will it chip and flake off like paint would?

It's a 4 door 89 XJ with the 4L and auto tranny. Not that I think it's relevant at all.

Thanks for any thoughts on it.
Chris
