Well the title pretty much says it all. hahah ive got the 97 zj with the 5.2. so far ive put on the rustys air tube with the big effin K&N filter (6x9 or something) and im looking to get a badass sound and hopefully true dual exhaust. i know i could go a few different ways as far as like no Y-pipe and just two cats, two muffs etc. are there kits like this ? or would it be easier to just piece it together? also would there really be a huge advantage of single muffler dual exit pipes over dual cat dual mufflers? And is it best to have it welded or will clamps do? i can weld i just dont have a welder and dont really wanna pay anyone to do it for me if i dont have to. i know ive seen a few ZJ's with dual exhaust and i think it would be tighter then the uniform on the invisible woman (jessica alba fantastic 4)

oh, would i have to fab up some mounting points for the extra pipe if i went dual pipes? or could i use some existing holes in the frame with some hangers and such?

Thanks guys, i appreciate it! and so yall know the tranny should be good now, i got the clutch discs replaced and i think some more stuff so no more shudder and hopefully good shifting from now on! the DW is still kinda there but im sure that once i throw on some new Adj LCAs itll be smooth sailing!! this forum freaking RULES!!!!! ive heard of people having problems with "true" duals since the drive line is in the way for the front axle so its hard to run the pipe. BUT "true" duals are not the "best" there is out there.... go to kevinsoffroad.com and look at the exhaust offered from kolak. his headers and y design with a good muffler and cat (if your in to cats) will sound just as good as any dual set up at a fraction of the cost to get the actual duals ran. i myself dont have headers yet but i cut off my cat and everything after, trashed it, and put on a flowmaster (cuz i like the sound there is better tho { Aero amoung many}) and then i added a foot of pipe and a turn down at the end. my jeep sounds fkn MEAN. i like it but i cant wait to get the kolak headers and y and run 3 inch pipe in the same manner i have now but with an Aero muffler

Duals are possible for enough money but they will hang low because of the transfer case .. Then you will rip them off the first time you go offroad..

there simply isnt enough room to run the second muffler / cat / whatever on the drivers side...

Then if you combat that problem you will get to the back and find that your fuel tank if offset to allow the muffler to pass by on the passenger side and that is now in the way..

I have 3" pipe running from my factory Y pipe with no cat and a flowmaster 40 series.. It sounds very good and is only slightly dented from when my axle stuffd against it..
