I recently struggled with my truck (2000 XJ) overheating but went through, replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat etc. It fixed the problem, the truck is no longer overheating, but now the heat in the cab does not work, even when the motor is running at appr. 210 for 15+ minutes, the vents just blow cold air. The truck had no problems at all heating up before i switched out these parts and my Haynes manual does not reference this problem in the troubleshooting section and with winter fast approaching, i am very concerned. Please help!! Thank you!!

I agree. Heater core blocked by a hose obstruction, crud or air lock.

So, is the suggestion here to gently flush the system with an adapter-rigged garden hose?

And to do that, I assume we are to remove the hoses from the points they attach to the engine...

This could also very well be a cracked/disconnected vacuum line to the heater valve. Check those lines while you flush the system.

Yes, disconnecting the heater hoses where they are connected to the engine should work fine, as long as you make sure that the heater core valve is in the open position... otherwise you'll just be flushing out your heater hoses. I would collect the flushed water in a bucket to see if any crud came out.

Sorry if I don't understand that exactly, but when you say make sure the heater core valve is in the open position, what do you mean? Where is this located?

On edit: I now understand what this device is, but do not see it on my vehicle. Perhaps the 1999 WJ's do not have it...and I just noticed that this is the Cherokee forum! Sorry for the incorrect forum interruption!
