Ouch. That does sound about right, though, coming from the dealership. I think I was quoted something similar a few years ago when my '93 muffler went bad. I went with a magnaflow instead (not much louder than stock, on my 6cyl.)

Does the driveshaft hit the new muffler? Can you post a pic of the old muffler if you still have it? How about a pic of the new muffler next to the driveshaft? Which motor do you have?

Yeah, I hear ya with the snow! I'm only a couple hours away from you. Did you install the muffler yourself or have it done. If it's a recent install, you could probably loosen the clamps and move the muffler away from the driveshaft some, then retighten. Unless it's welded on, like I do mine. Then you'll have to grind off the welds, reposition, and reweld. Post up a pic whenever you can. Wink

Goddamn.....

I have the 5.2 and my flowmaster works like a charm for only about $50 (plus installation..)

What is an OBDII muffler.. Does it have a port for an Oxygen sensor??

Its been a while since I did my muffler but for some reason I remember the muffler guy welding a bung into the exhaust pipe...

Never mind.. Thats what he had to do when he replaced cat with a straight piece of exhaust pipe.. Mr. Green
I just remembered ...

I don't know whats up with your muffler.. But I would check into a magna flow or a dynomax or something..Maybe they will fit better...

Is there a "Discount Muffler" or similar shop near you???

looks like the inlet is center and the out is on the right
the parts shop is ordering a center center and see if that works

the OBDII vehicles start after oct 1997 and beyond

Some 1994 and 1995 model year vehicles do have OBD-II. If your vehicle is 1996 or newer, U.S. federal law requires that all vehicles (cars and light trucks) sold in the United States must be OBD-II compliant. This includes all domestic (Ford, Dodge, GM, etc.) and import/foreign (Toyota, Honda, etc.) vehicles.

The sure-fire way to find out if your vehicle is OBD-II compliant is to look for the standard DLC (data link connector) that all OBD II vehicles have. It will be located underneath the driver's side of the dash:

Now, if your vehicle is 1996 or newer, you definitely have OBD-II. If your vehicle is older than 1996, the presence of the DLC may or may not indicate that you have OBD-II. To verify, look under the hood for a VECI label. The VECI label will indicate whether or not the vehicle has OBD II. Sorry, I don't have a photo of the VECI label.
