Hello there! I have a 2001 TJ, I am having trouble finding a bike carrier to fit a 35 inch tire. Does anyone know who or where I can find a carrier that will work on that sized tire? Thank you in advance for your response!

I would try looking in the different Jeep magazines and web sites, like Quadratec, 4wheel drive parts, JCwhitney, etc. welcome to the forum! good luck on your hunt Cool

I've never seen one.

You're best bet is to find one that mounts between the spare tire and the spare tire carrier. Then have it extended so you have enough clearance for the width of the 35s.

The other option would be a hitch mounted carrier with an extension to clear the spare.

Hey - I managed a bike shop for 7 years. Based on the number of repairs I had to do to bikes that got dragged along the highway, just get one that goes into your hitch. It's a lot more secure.

no problem, take a look at this:

http://www.swagman.net/detail.php?cat=2&b=1&id=64650#

its cheap, sturdy, and folds up if its there and you're not using it. you could also lock your bikes to your jeep with a locking pin and a cable lock if you're driving somewhere and want to stop for lunch or are camping or whatever.

they also have racks for more bikes (like 4 total). just watch your total effective tongue weight - a lot of bumpers with recievers in them arent rated for towing, although if you have a carrier for a 35 inch tire it must be pretty sturdy.

Great info! I will only need to carry 2 bikes, so that will work perfect!
I do have a very sturdy bumber and carrier. I have all of my work done at Toys by Troy. I am sure you aren't familiar with them being in Canada (lucky you!) They only specialize in custom Jeeps and do all the fabricaton on site. You have been so helpful, I can't thank you enough. I am jealous, I would love to live in Canada! Rolling Eyes But man is it cold!!!!
