my battery will not charge but i can jump it and it runs fine, the battery is the smaller red top so that should not be an issue, i've picked up a new alternator from autozone (kinda limited in this town) but im not sure on the exact process, and i left my chiltons manuals at home. its for a 6 cly yj manual with no a/c (not in too big of a hurry don't need it day to day, and don't want to work on it in the snow)

Just real quick...this is what I'd do.

Remove the serpentine belt (or V-belt if you don't have a serpentine).
Remove the electrical connections on the back of the alternator.
Unbolt alternator from mount.
Reverse steps with new alternator.

I don't know how a 94 YJ is setup...so I can't go in to more detail.

Oooh...that's important. I usually forget this too...either that or I avoid it so I don't have to reset the clock and radio stations.
