My speedometer and odometer/tripometer don't work on my 93ZJ 4.0.

I'd guess it's the speed sensor unit which should be mounted on the tranny housing (according to my Haynes book at least). Could there be anything else that needs replacing? Ideas anyone?

Thanks,

The speedo sensor is on the transfer case. It's attached to the rear output housing. That's where I would look! Mine was loose and got water inside, then it wouldn't work.

I'll probably get under there sometime this weekend (hopefully before the game, GO SEAHAWKS!) Is this sensor on the driver's side?

Also, I haven't had a chance to call the parts desk, but I've been told this part could be upwards of $300. Any truth to that? Do I need to start tracking down tear-aparts?

I just replaced my speedo sensor to accomodate my larger tires - ran $24 plus shipping.

The speedo sensor is the only thing on really stuck into the t-case on the back, drivers side of the t-case. just unplug the sensor, unbolt the retaining bracket and it pops right out.

This is sounding good... Smile

Does anyone know if there is any other electronic "motherboard" of sorts that goes somewhere inline between the speed sensor and the dash?
