Ok I did the seal in the rear diff on my 93 Wrangler. It went pretty smooth, almost without a hitch! I also took the rear track bar out and thought it was causing this RRrrrrrinng noise when I let off the gas. Well I put it back in and I still have that same sound ONLY when I lift my foot off the gas pedal. If I leave my foot slightly on the gas it doesn't happen. As soon as I lift it all the way up RRRrrrrrrr. Until I slow down close to stopping speed. Now is this a symptom of the crush seal? Bad Universal? Or is there another problem I'm not seeing? Please help!!!

It sounds like the pinion is loose. Try to tighten it some more. It takes a lot of torque to get em good. How did the u-joint look?

you have to be carefull with rears, there is a pinion preload that has to be acheived when you tighten it back up. If you dont do it correctly you get what you got, a noisy rear.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Hell yeah! My jeep is night and day with/without it. Still stiff, but tolerable. Next a trick I learned by the guy who helped with the pinion. Oh and the front track bar and QDs for the sway bar. Wink
