Hi!
I was out driving earlier and it started smelling burnt! Well I started poking around and found out it was the main light switch getting hot, and almost melting loose.. Needless to say I decided to take action and started to disassemble the dash.. however It seems the light switch is the only switch I can't get to. Does anymore know how to reach the switch without basically taking out the entire dash of my precious XJ?

If you have the same "pull for park/headlights, twist one way for interior lights, twist the other way to dim instrument lighting" switch as in my '93 XJ, this seems to be the procedure, according to Haynes:

1: Disconnect the battery.
2: Pull the switch button all the way out.
3. Reach up under the dash and push a small retainer button on the bottom of the switch assembly. This will enable you to pull the button and shaft completely out. Note that, going by the illustrations, the dash seems to be in the way, but there should be an access hole for the button. You may also have to remove the "knee panel" from beneath the dash.
4: There should now be visible a ferrule nut securing the switch body to the dash. Undo this and you should be able to pull the switch back behind the dash.
