A clogged catalytic converter would affect power, yes, particularly at higher revs.

I think your first step should be to get the trouble codes from the ECU, particularly as the Check Engine light is lit. I'm not sure if the key trick (http://jeephorizons.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2719) would work, but it is worth trying. You can also take it to a repair shop and get them to hook it up to a code reader. This may also give you more detailed information about your problem.

Yes, the cat could be doing it. But I would have the codes checked. Autozone will do it for free!

I"ve been told that if the engine light blinks that means it REALLY has a problem. I know when my catalytic converter went there was no power to be had. I couldn't pass a school bus from a dead stop uphill if my life depended on it. Either way at 100,000 miles you can't go wrong with replacing it. Don't take it to a dealership though, they wanted 600 to fix mine. I had a friend at a honda dealership (of all places) do it for 300.
