well, i fixed the rubbing with some fender trimming, which turned out to be pretty fun..
i've searched and can't find anything similar, when accelerating and occasionally stopping, it feels like there is a bowling ball in the back rolling around, does anyone know what is causing this? any input is greatly apprieciated!

What do you have in the rear for springs? It sounds like you may be experiencing axle wrap.

I have a similar problem to what you described as a 'bowling ball' Sometimes when I take off the engine winds up and then the whole jeep jerks into gear. I think it's my clutch discs in the transmission. I think we are both having the same problem whatever it is.

check and service your rear end, make sure the pinion has very very little play in it (three thousandths of an inch or something like that)

The u-bolts could be loose, the spring centering pin could be sheared or damaged.
