Well, you might spraying some PB blaster or 3-in-one oil or something in the hinges. As you can see there are 2 hinges that need the nut removed. Let it sit, then start moving the door back and forth while lifting up. It should pop free. There is a plastic bushing that the hinges ride in...so it's probably stuck to that some with grime or something.

Open and close while lifting. Well don't literally close it, but stand in between your door and the tub and rock open and close while lifting.

I usually place one hand below the door and the other in the bottom edge of the door where the window rolls up. Lift from the bottom and push at the top while rocking. DO NOT use a jack or anything mechanical below the door to push. You will bend something. Very Happy

The doors are pretty heavy at about 40-50 lbs, and be sure to set them on a towel or blanket, so you won't damage the bottom of your doors... Wink

hi all im new to this forum, just bought my 98 TJ today and am really excited to get back into another Wrangler, and kind of on this same topic once the doors are off my dome lights seem to never go off, i know on my YJ they had the quick disconnect for the door trigger but i dont seem to see one short of taking the drivers kick apart, my dome light is in my sound bar and one in the back of the hard top, is there an easy way to dissconect the door trigger wire for when the doors are off?

thanks in advance

stefano

There is a fuse you pull on the panel behind the glove box.

I think it's labeled something along the lines of door switch defeat. Keep in mind the chime to remind you that your headlights are on will no longer work.
