I've been going around and around trying to work with Old Man Emu on a set of springs and shocks for my Jeep with them giving me, what I believe to be, inaccurate information. They don't seem to get the fact that I need 4" front, 3" rear springs rated for the extra weight of a V8/winch/several other accesories. Sooo, i'm dumping them and thinking about the JKS J-Spec system which has 4 springs and fixed-reservoir shocks and that's it.

Has anyone had experience with their springs/shocks?

The other companies in the running are Full Traction, Teraflex, and Rubicon Express.

I've only ever used OME suspension on my 4x4's so I would like some opinions on the other systems from people who have wheeled them, regarding durability, how well it works off road, and quality of manufacture.

Thanks guys!

P.S. OME is telling me I need 2" medium rate springs. Which wouldn't clear my 33's without a V8/winch/blahblahblah.

Nevermind the JKS lift, just got an email from their Tech Dept., they are out of stock and are no longer manufacturing the coils or shocks. WTF. They are still on the website though even with a little "New!" icon next to it.

Anyone else out there with alot of weight on the front of their Jeep happy with their springs/shocks?

I don't think the V8 will add much weight to your vehicle. The 4.0 is a rather heavy engine and many V8's are actually lighter than the inline-6.

If you need a custom OME setup, I'd talk with Dirk at DPG Offroad. He is one of the dealers most knowledgeable about OME's lineup for various vehicles and can combine something to suit your needs if you want to retain OME on your TJ.

The Chevy engine/trans combo weighs 235lbs more than my 4-cyl engine/trans.

I was told that most aftermarket lift coils are a little heavier rate than stock to begin with. Right now i'm using Jeep Rubicon springs with a 1" spacer, they are less than 2 yrs old and sag, and that's with just the 4-cyl. The rear of my Jeep is so light, (soft doors/soft top/no back seat/no rear tire) that I actually have plenty of room with 33's with 2" of lift.

I'll look that guy up you recommended for the OME... Just blows my mind that the factory didn't understand what I am doing, and my concerns.
