Hey guys. First post. I have a 1999 XJ that I've had for about 10 months. My father in law is the original owner. I'm having problems with both front power windows which I've read that these are known problems. Driver side will go up and down with the clicking sound and the passenger side doesn't move. I know those are both window regulator problems if I'm reading correctly. I'm also having a problem with the AC. It will blow ice cold and then blow warm. I'll shut it off for 5 minutes or so and turn it back on and it will be cold. Any suggestions? The Jeep is 100 % stock (so far) and I'm having a blast with it.

This may sound goofy but under the hood where all the relays are try pulling the A/C relay and with a pair of pliers wiggle the terminal ends..If you can good for a while without it cutting out then replace the relay..Don't ask it has worked on 3 newer model cars I have had as a test for a bad relay.

As for the windows sounds like new regulators to me.

Is there a better Jeep forum with more people? I'm used to ThumperTalk where questions get answered quickly and lots of people are logged in. I never see anyone on here except me.

For this type of question, no, there isn't a better forum for the XJ... Sometimes if you don't get an answer, it's most likely people aren't sure from you post what the problem might be. There might not be 30 people logged on at once on this forum, but you can be sure they check it periodically throughout the day.

But if you want us to chime in with guesses, then here it goes...

About the AC. This sounds crazy, but my brother-in-law's 2000 XJ was doing exactly what you say, and it turns out something in the ECU (ECM?, computer? whatever) was screwed up, and sure enough, changing it out solved his problem. Expensive fix. But it could also be your pressure switch, or many other things. I think AC problems are the hardest thing to diagnos online. More details might lead to more suggestions.

About the window. I think nobody had suggestions because we would need more details. Does the passenger window get juice? Does it click too but not move? If you fiddle with the passenger lock-out switch, does this help? Does the clicking sound in the driver's window sound like stripping gears? So anyway, give us a few things to go off of, and maybe more people will have suggestions.

After reading about your windows, I honestly didn't undertstand what the question was. It seemed you already had it figured out. As for the a/c, it's extremely hard to diagnose an a/c issue over the internet. Especially when the problem is described as, it blows cold, then it blows hot, then it bolws cold again.

I think you should go find a better Jeep forum with more people! What your not understanding is that more people doesn't equate to more knowledge. It usually means getting a lot of useless responses from people that have no intention of helping. There aren't many people here, but that's great. For the most part, the few that are here are very knowledgable. Asking for a better forum than this, is definitely not the right way to get your questions answered or to make friends.

Good luck with you forum search, don't let the door hit you in the ass!!!

The AC....when was the last time it was charged? Head to the local auto parts store and get a couple cans of refrigerant and the hose to charge your system. You may have a small leak as well which gets more difficult to locate and repair.
