TCM unpluged
Key Off
Ground probe in Pin 24
Possitive Probe in Pin 11, Zero Resistance
Possitive Probe in Pin 12, Zero Resistance
Possitive Probe in Pin 13, Zero Resistance
Is this Possible that all 3 have no Resistance ?
I know that they should read 11-15 OHMs
I have checked at th Connector under the Hood, all is the same at
that point.
The Black wire, Pin #1 is suppose to be the ground but is not acting grounded. I traced that black wire and the white/brown stipe wire to a white plug on the side of the Trans, at that plug the black wire is still not showing it is a ground. The 3 Solenoid wires are in a seperate Loom that goes behind the TC shift bracket and I can not see where it goes from there.
Should I pull the bracket to check the wires behind it, or open up the Trans Pan and test the Solenoids themselves ?
I just don't understand that all 3 Solenoids would show Zero Resistance and the Black ground wire shows nothing |

Since nobody else jumped on this, I have to ask this question.............
are you using a multiple scale VOM, and if so, are you on the RX1 scale?
If you're using any other scale on the ohms range, your meter may not have enough impedance to give a reading on only 11 ohms.
If you're certain you're using the meter correctly, then possibly your wiring diagram is incorrect for the year Jeep you're working on. The wiring does vary between years. No clue why, but it does.
Post back when you find the problem, please.

I have no idea what VOM or RX1 is
However, I did figure out my $10 Radio Shack Meter was not up to
the job.
So my Wife took me to Sears and bought me a nice
Auto ranging Craftsman Digital Meter
Tested all 3 Solenoids:
Shift 1-2 Solenoid tested bad at 18.2 OHMs when cold and 3.00 when hot. |
