I am currently swapping out my d35 for a 8.8, and since i will be changing ratio to 4.88 in front also is there anyway that i can make the 30 hold up better. I will be using the yj for moderate off roading and it currenly has 36" tires and soa thanks

With upgrades, the D30 can be used reliably with 35" tires. Unfortunately, beyond that, and you'll find increasing problems. Primarily, the ball joints will have accelerated wear with larger tires, not to mention risking shaft or u-joint breakage. Off-road, the use is even harsher on the axle. It isn't really designed for that kind of use.

well i didnt do any mods to the d30. we did the rubicon, deer valley, strawberry, and other trails along the way. we did try to be easy on it. I would like to have a locker of some sort up front but i think it would be to much for the d30 to handle. still lookin for something to swap out the d30 if you have any suggestions lets hear them thanks
