I have a 95 Grand with 4.0.
I think I have fuel pressure problems. Specs I looked up stated 49 PSI + or- 5 PSI.
Others have said spec is 39 PSI ?????
I get a vibrating gage between 39 and 41 (so fast it is a blur) and the cold engine will not idle or stumbles directly to a drop in pressure to 32-35.
Seems to me the electric pump should keep constant pressure all the time.
Warmed up it seems to run better but not aces up.
Now, I do not have a fuel rail mounted regulator. It is a single line system and I assume the regulator is in the tank or the pump. Remember this is a 1995 mfg 10/94.
All parts requests dealer or independents come back as rail mounted regulator. It IS NOT THERE! I saw a swamp boy posting on by passing the pump and it said 96 (A later mod than mine) would have a regulator in the tank cannister with the pump.
I have no idea how to find the correct part. I do know that Jeep lists a different fuel pump for that year but I do not know if it includes the regulator. Can the regulator be purchase separate from the pump?
I have changed the filter and a section of crimped fuel line, the soot covered plugs, cap, rotor and idle air motor. All improved the cold run and start problem but my 93 / 4.0 will fire up fast and will kick the 95's ass all day long.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
