My little brother is using Dragon Naturally Speaking ( http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/ ) to IM. So hes speaking to his computer, which is recognizing his voice, writing it down, his friends are reading it, and they speak back to the computer, which then writes it down. My question is: IS THIS NOT GOING TOO FAR??? Why not just talk on the phone? Or Skype?

I would think this is the very upmost in laziness. My dad used to use that system, but it was because he is a doctor and didn't want to hand type all of his stuff.

But, to use it for IM, that's just plain sick. Start typing or pick up a phone.

Actaully, I gave my lil bro some crap and he explained why he uses it, and I take it back, he deserves respect. He says that his voice gets all wavery when he talks to girls - so he's trying to practice by actually talking to them out loud, but not having to have anyone hear him. That's really cute, I think. Anyway, I use Dragon to write, it's about 2x as fast as my typing (75 WPM) - so you can't call me lazy. Smile

Okay, nevermind. I can sympathize. I was like that too way back when.

I just use voice chat via Teamspeak to a buddy of mine. Of course I look like a helicopter piliot with my head phones and mic on. Wink

Yeah me too. It's awful cute to watch his geeky schemes at becoming more confident. I swear he could be a commercial for Dragon now. Though my poor mother is getting pretty sick of hearing his conversations - she's saving egg cartons to soundproof his room with. Heh. Glad I don't live at home.
