Just joined & love the site so far. I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo (4.0l) with 102,000 miles. The sound is audible betweeb 20 & 40 mph. It reminds me of the sound a mosquito makes when it's hovering around your ear. Rather high pitched and changes pitch slightly with speed. It seems to be originating from the front left of the vehicle. It first appeared late last winter, but before I could have it looked at, it vanished. I'm thinking it may be aggrivated by the cold as it re-appeared in early November after being silent all summer. My first thought was the speedometer sensor/cable, but the guage is operating normally. Brakes are good. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I would guess maybe salt in the unit bearings.. They are kinda pricey to replace but you can check them before you just toss them out...

Jack it up.. .Take off the tire pull off the brakes (including the rotor) wiggle the hub.. IF it wiggles it needs to be replaced.. It should be very solid .. No wobble at all..

Give that a shot.. And while you are taking it apart.. Take a good look at your brakes and stuff..
