i took my 95 gc laredo off roading for the first time yesterday, nothing serious just some little dirt trails with some hills and average puddles. nothing a stock grand cherokee should have any problems with. first puddle i got into, the shit stalls. i thought i hydro locked the engine but i let it sit for 5 minutes and it started right up. same thing with the next puddle, which is when i turned around and left, after stalling on the same puddles again. i was pretty pissed off because my friends piece of shit 89 blazer was having no problems at all with the trails. my friend told me something with the ignition might have been getting wet. what exactly is happening? and what can i do do prevent this from happening, if anything? i wanna start havin some fun with my jeep.

Check your coil and make sure its not getting wet.. (you can put dielectric grease in the socket and replug it to keep it dry.)

Also check the air filter to make sure its not getting wet it can stall you out without completly hydrolocking you.

Check for any bare wires that could be grounding out when water hits them and any plug that hangs low should have dielectric grease in it..

If you put grease in all the plugs and make sure your air filter stays dry you should be fine.. I have had mine in some very very deep water.. (so deep my radio got wet) and it came out of the hole and drove fine...

Hope that helps..
