I have a 2000 GC Laredo. it would be badass to put a manual trans into a GC. Does anyone no it it would be possible or have any experience or advice for this. any ideas or what kinda trans will fit, hopefully just bolt up with as little modifications as possible.

This is a tech article on a zj trans swap (you have a wj by the way) It may be possible to adapt the basics to work with a wj, although you are probably going to have to do some old fashioned information gathering and trial and error to get things to work in your wj.

This will give you the basics on a manual trans swap. You have to think about a lot of things first though. Do you have the time and the money? You also have to think about engine size. If you have the inline 4.0L you can use an AX15. If have the 4.7L V-8 then you will have to go with something stronger, perhaps an nv4500. You will have to get adapters so that everything bolts up and you will probably have to get your front drive shaft lengthened or you will just have to get a new one. You will also have to get a shorter rear drive shaft.

I have also been thinking about doing this swap but haven't gotten around to pulling all the information together. I would say first find out what adapters you will if they are available get the information on the trans you want to do (lenght, bolt patters, etc.) and get out and do some old fashioned tape measuring to see how things will go together.

Like I said before this is an article for a zj, so don't expect that every little thing will be the same for your jeep. This article will be a good outline for getting the basics done but you might have to do some adapting to get things to work right for you wj.
