My husband has a 88 Jeep Comanche that has over 300,000 miles on it. We recently had the entire clutch assembly replaced. Afterwards we started to experience problems with the alternator not charging the battery. We have a brand new battery, the alternator tests out okay and they are saying it is a ground wire problem but they can't seem to find it. Any ideas, thoughts, advice on how to fix this so the alternator will charge????? We would appreciate anything that you could do!

cool i have the same problem , im just swapping the engine out which has a different alternator haha . i will tell you if i figure out what is wrong with mine.

hmm ground problem ? you could try attaching another ground from your battery to frame(the uni body frame) 3 gage wire or so and see what happens. or just run an additional ground from the - of the battery to one of the bolts holding the alt in .

did they say it is not getting a good ground or its getting a ground fault ?

I had the same problem, it happened to be corrosion in the cable from the battery to the alternator. I replaced and it worked like new.

there is a pretty good chance that is what is wrong or the ground is also so corroded that it has a bad path , i would just replace both .
