Just curious if anyone else is annoyed with the way Chryco set up the heater controls on the late model XJ's. It bugs me that they don't give the option of feet and vents, only 1 or the other. You can have defrost and feet but that will run the a/c compressor. You can also set it to vent and feet on the a/c side but again the compressor will run. Has anyone here installed a switch so you can shut off the compressor no matter where the control is? It seems like it would be simple enough to do.

You must have a late 90s model XJ.
Most engineers have designed the compressor to work all the time.
The reason is that a compressor that is idle without use will leak as the vehicle gets older. Defrost cycle works better and faster with the AC.
The low freon switch is located on the drier in most cases.
To install a switch to shut down the compressor locate the low freon switch
and put the wire for the switch between the low freon switch.
Basically it will think its out of freon.

Yeah, I was thinking something similar. I like to have control, my van has a button that shuts it off. Just curious if anyone else has done it. BTW, as you can see by the signature it is a 99. Thx
