hey brand new jeep owner. just got a gorgeous burnt orange rubicon.
two tops, nice stereo. love it.
however , it makes the worst clunking, noisy sounds when shifting.
the car is brand new. the dealer says its normal. i dont remember it sounding that bad when i took it for a test drive.
the shifter feels a little rough as well. anyone else know what im talking about???

I have an '05 Rubicon Unlimited with the 6 speed. It was pretty clunky for the first few thousand miles, but has smoothed out some (I'm at 29k miles now and it's still a little clunky). I agree that some clunking is normal. I plan to put Royal Purple synthetic in it at 30k miles. I'm hoping that will smooth the gearbox out a little more.

Might be due to the weather. I've noticed many people on lots of boards with this problem. It usually happens when shifting into or out of 2nd gear. Next time you're driving, give a good pause in neutral when shifting between 1st and 2nd. Move the lever slowly. You'll probably feel a little pressure on the shifter. This is normal for the 6 speed. It will go away when either the transmission or the weather warms up. The slower shifting has really helped me in my 05. Hope this helps!
