Alright, so i'm trying the 249 to 242 transfer case swap in a 94 zj..

I got the sensors swapped and I was having a hell of a time getting the rear cover with (what i guess is) the speed-o sensor.. but yeah i suck--I ripped the ENTIRE thing apart except for the rear shaft w/ the viscous coupling attatched, is still stuck in the cover. I tried getting a puller to remove it but I can't find one to fit, and I tried beating the hell out of it with a hammer and no luck there either. I looked at an exploded diagram and it just looks like there's a bushing holding it in (no lockring hiding) .. am I right? and does anyone have any advice for getting it out? Thanks!!

If it's the speed-o sensor, it's only held in by an rubber o-ring. If it is really stuck, I would try to gently pry it with a small flat screwdriver. This link should help you.

I'm out of town with work, so that's the best I can do until I get home and can take a picture.

The speed-o sensor isn't what's stuck.. it's that output shaft that's stuck in the cover that holds the speed-o sensor.

Thanks guys!!

Did u take apart that really hard to get apart snap ring under the flat cover? Swamp Boy has a great writeup for this swap.

yeah, i've looked at that.. no.. it's not a snap ring that's holding it..

it really looks to me like a bushing down on the shaft.. i've looked at an exploded vide and just from looking at it, it looks like a bushing....

because of the weight of the shaft + vc, it's amost uselss trying to beat it out with a hammer.. and i've tried finding a puller, but can't find one large enough and thin enough to get around the vc and shaft.
