What year of Cherokee front doors will fit an 89 Cherokee 4 door? I found some custom half doors off of a 99 and was wondering if they will fit my 89.
Thanks!

Not sure on that one, basically because if you see doors removed on a Cherokee, it's a custom job. There is a new group of guys working on a door removal project that replaces the doors with a half door/cage design, but I think those are for the '99 only. I know the position of the door jamb that catches the lock is placed differently because I looked at my '00 and compared it to a '93, so if the alignment is that far off there's no telling what else might be different.

These were custom built for the guys 99. He did them himself. They look really cool, so I thought I would check here and see what you guys thought.
Thanks!

They look good, if a little crooked (look at the rear part, looks to be off unless the door wasn't closed all the way).

But the blingbling wheels HAVE to go (I know it ain't yours...). They look WAY tarded... bling bling

half doors are easy to make and for the early years its even easier since there are more of them around in the junk yards.

go to a junk yard and pick up any door from 84 to 95 and proceed to cut and weld away.

before being painted

they make all the difference in the world when crawling

heres what i did to make them

Question: Is it legal to run doors without side mirrors in Utah? I think it's illegal here, but not 100% sure.

Do like the custom job, tho. Mr. Green

actually i left the factor spot to mount the mirrors .what you don't see is the passenger side has one.i just didn't have another spare for the drivers side when i built them.i think before i sold them i had a drivers mirror as well.

I just talked to the guy and he says the doors that he modified are off of a 91. Still wondering if the 99 door is compatible with the 89. Just want to make sure before I buy.
Thanks!!!

he would have had to modify the door catch to have them work.the early XJ's used a post catch the later Xj's used a loop catch.they are not that far off from one another and i know i have seen people modify a later model door to an early model by doing a poor job of making the early model into a loop catch.are there any other pics of the doors.ask for more pics of the catch or just get off your arse and go look.doesn't hurt to look.

how much is he asking for them?i would personally pass on them and look into making your own.

here i'll spell it out for you.your 89 will only work with a door from a 84 to a 95/96.97 and up used the newer style hoop latch instead of the older pin style.

I would go look, but they are 45 miles away, and my work schedule will not permit it at this time. Your words have finally got to me. I will pass on them. I will look into building my own. I just bought a Pass side rear door from a guy, and wouldn't you know it he had both front doors too!! $25 each and nice!!
