OK, this is a total nooob question (and a little embarassing), but since I only got my TJ in fall the hardtop has been on the whole time. I just took the hardtop off and put the soft top on, and what I'm wondering is: can I just zip out the side and back windows and leave the roof up while I'm driving around? As in nice day, but it looks like it might rain in a bit so I dont want to fold it all down, and then back up in the rain?

I asked the guys at the local 4x4 shop and all they did was try to sell me a bikini top.

Ok, well the next reasonable question is: Even on the highway? It seemed like the factory soft top was pretty sturdy without windows in it, but I wanted to check cause I'd rather not tear it.

Also, if I have the windows zipped out what's a good way to store them? Are the roll up window bags worth it?

Even on the highway! rofl I usually just put mine on the back seat and stick them in the seat crack a little, if I'm not home. They stay there, even on the highway. If I am home, I'll throw them in the back of my ZJ.

I have a 97 with just a softtop I never bought a bikini top I always just take off the windows and roll up the rear window I lived in cali and drove on the highways like this. You also don't have to buy a wind channel like you need for any style bikini. Give it a shot You like it.

I run with the windows out frequently in the warmer months. I use a window roll and think they are worth the money as they reduce the scratching the windows receive during transport.

The only thing I do when running without the windows is bungee the rear of the top to the rollbar. If you watch the back of the top, the verticle part, in your mirrors, you will see that it bulges out at highway speeds. My thought was that this bulge might cause some stretching of the top and loosen the fit.

careful with only havin the back window rolled up while driving....creates a vacuum in which exhaust fumes can be sucked into the cab . happened to me once thought i had an exhaust leak for a couple days. Rolling Eyes
