This is being headed up by the Rangers. I'm planning on attending. I hope those that can't make the VA4WD clean up, and others, make this one. There will be media present, and its a good way for us to particapate and make a difference.

Harrisonburg, VA (April 2, 2007)...The USDA Forest Service is planning a litter clean-up of the North River Ranger District. The clean-up will coincide with the celebration of Earth Day on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
All interested individuals and groups are invited to a participate. An organizational planning meeting will be will be held Tuesday April 10th, at 6 p.m. at the North River Ranger District office, 401 Oakwood Drive in Harrisonburg. Participants can share where they want to concentrate their efforts and convey how many will be joining the event.
Volunteers to the event on April 21st should bring the following: a bag lunch and drink, sturdy shoes or boots, gloves, sunscreen and/or a hat and a "trash grabber" if available. The Forest Service will provide trash bags and gloves. Participants will be asked to sign a volunteer agreement.
The North River Ranger District is a combination of the former Deerfield and Dry River Ranger Districts. It encompasses almost 400,000 acres of the George Washington National Forest and is a special place for a great many people. This is an excellent opportunity for the public to get involved in Earth Day and help keep the national forests special.
For more information contact the North River Ranger District office at (540) 432-0187.
