it did sit before he bought it for about 4 months and when he brought it home it was almost empty so he filled it to about half a tank..so it shouldn't have bad gas....and he replaced a knock sensor....which had no wires on it when he got the jeep...he switched around the fuel injector wires to where there supposed to be according to the manual...he replaced the fuel filter...and he was guna replace the coolant temp sensor down on the lower part of the block but he said his block has a plug in it so he didnt want to do it yet but he's still going to eventually but we dont think this is a problem...plzzz any other help!??!!! there's gotta be somethin else!

What I meant was water or some other contaminant, like dirt, rust, or sludge of some sort in the tank. If there was "bad gas" in there putting gas in it would have stirred it up.

ok ok...my apologies...as for the jeep...we dont think its a gas problem b/c its extremely consistant in what it does...seems like if it was bad gas it would be worse at times and better at times...depending on how much crap was making it from the tank through the lines into the motor etc at a time....are there any sensors that would do this besides the knock sensor...isn't there some sort of crank position somethin or other sensor that causes problems ?? yet again...much thanks...

Miss fires are only caused by three things
Are the plug wires in the right plug?
Yes a CPS can cause the problems. Check the wires to the CPS as I have burned one and had one break a wire and could not find it until I removed it.
The TPS not set right can cause a rough idle and backfire upon accelleration only.

Everybody check their CPS. They are know to come out of their loom clips on the back of the block and melt on the heat shield. I had a bad mechanic once Finger and he kept replaceing the CPS not putting it in the loom. 2 months later it's bad again. I rewired the thing, and carry a spare on me. And now no worries. The moral, Check your CPS, if it's burnt or funky, get a new one.
