I picked one of these up the other day...

No I am not A gun nut but I wanted a stainless gun I could keep a boat..

Mossberg 590 Mariner ..(this is not a picture of my gun. But mine is the same..)

I took my 870 out of the boat and it has surface rust on all the moving parts... I had to completely disassemble it and clean it.. I was not happy..

I hope those days are over now..

I have an SKS of some unknown variety... Alll I really know is it was cheap, the ammo is dirt cheap and its reliable as all hell (probably fired thousands of rounds without a single jam... Emptied my 20 round clip as fast as I can pull the trigger on a number of occasions with no problems)

I also got an adjustable 3x-9x scope... I picked it up for $40 at Wal-Mart figuring it would break in like a day or something but it had a lifetime warranty so I figured what the heck... Suprisingly it has held up well... I know 9x is insane given the gun and my skill level but it was cheap and I can leave it on 3x so its all good...

Me, my Jeep and my gun... I also have a Winchester 30-30 lever action but can't find any pic atm...

I have a 3X9X42 on my AR15 and I can shoot the eye out of a ground hog target at 300 yards at no problem..

I cant tell you how much farther I can shoot because that is the longest range we have around here.. and there is nowhere in the woods with a shot that long so it will have to do..

I sighted in my buddys Cetme (308) at the same 300 yards and put 5 shots thru a hole that measured less than 3/4" ... I should have been a sniper.. rofl rofl

I want one of those miniguns mounted on my Jeep attached to a set of azmith/elevation servos with a collection of auto targeting infrared sensors.

$300,000 and its yours. unless you want to get a class 3 license whick is $500 a year and then the minigun prices drop to $65,000 new

i have seen it done on a few jeeps and a ford explorer. we mounted one on a helicopter and it was able to take out a dozen cars in seconds

The servos the exspensive part... A company we worked with was making one (remote controlable gun mount) for a .50 cal on a ship... the repeated half sine shock tears things up easily. It can be done... Just not cheap.

ya all the ones i have worked with have been hand controlled with either a seat elevated or step to stand on. i like the feel of the gun better anyway. its not like i need to be protected when i am at the gun range and everyone is shooting in the same direction

Yeah so far I've never had to deal with someone shooting the wrong way on the range, but since I shoot on a free national forest range in west virginia (no range safety officer provided), I've always wondered how the bullet holes get in the roof of wooden canopy over the shooting stations Rolling Eyes

I just shoot in the national forest in general... Into a shall cliff/hillside for safety... Its makes for a pretty awesome time.. There is a random field in the middle of no where (I have NEVER seen anyone else even near there) with a pretty fun little trail leading up to it... On one side of the field there is a barren, steep shale surface... Its great for shooting into because: You can see what you are shooting (safe for other people), Its soft so there are no ricoetes (safe for shooter) and you can usually dig up you bullet... Which can be sort of cool cause you can see how it deformed and stuff.

So its basicly pretty awesome.. Shooting and wheeling in pretty much the same place.

definitely!

my range takes about a half mile of trail to get to and the there is about 15 miles of public land off to the side of my property. (it used to be a sand and gravel pit)

Duncan

What country did that SKS come from? I've got a Yugoslovian and haven't gotten an extended mag to work well in it. I've got a tapco 20 rounder and I have to mod the chamber for it a little but it is the only one that has come close to working. My friends Chinese doesn't like extended mags at all.

I donno... I looked all over it but the only thing I can find is the serial number.

I know SKSs have problems with the clips all the time.. Mine works fine with the 20 round clip (all I have... I ordered more from the gun store but they have been backordered for like... Ever.) except it does not stay open after the last round though this seems to be the clips fault as the little plastic "bump" is worn off.

I found that
http://www.tapco.com
http://www.aimsurplus.com

are some good sites for gun stuff for all who are interested. I gotten stuff mostly from aimpoint and they've got some superfast shipping going on. Tapco makes some really sweet stuff for all the big names in guns.

Duncan,
http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php is a cool site for the sks if you are interested.
