For a 12.5 wheel you are going to need at least a 4" backspacing on a 8" rim..

I run 3.75" Backspacing and 10" rim

8in.. Sweet... Will do..

I am getting addicted to offroading... I am getting in the habit of working 11 hours days so I can put more money into my jeep... LOL

Backspacing... Is that like wheel spacers?

Also: (to the other guy) Yeah I am not a smoker so I have no idea how many packs are in a carton but I think they run about $4 a pack...

Backspacing is the depth of the center dish of the rim..

For example stock grand cherokee rims have a 7" backspacing like this..

See how the rim is almost flat..

Now look at these .. they have a 3.75" back spacing..

These rims are my new rims .. They are 10" rims and they have a 3.5" backspacing ..

For those of you that have never seen this Jeep before its my Friend Evans SJ (78 Cherokee Chief) I have done some work on it also..

Here is a current picture..

Awesome..

Thanks for explaing that... Do you guys think wheel spacers are a good idea btw? (keep in mind that dispite my best efforts I tend to drive faster than I should on road... Thus anything that prevents rollover is good... Also wheel spacer may help me stay out of ruts a bit)

A good set of wheel spacers will be safe but depending on your state and its laws you may have problems with them..

I run a set to convert my 8.8 rear to 6 lug.. They also give me 2" of width I have had no problems..

http://www.ezaccessory.com/Wheel_Adapter_5_Lug_4_5_To_6_Lug_5_5_p/5450-6550.htm

I run them because I built the 8.8 with superior shafts and such and then I swapped the dana 30 front for a 44.. fullsize 44 is 6 lug so I had to convert my rear.. Also fullsize 44 is obviously wider so I needed to match the width in the rear..

We have no inspections here in KY and I find it unlikely that some cop would happen to notice my wheel spacers... Its probably legal anyways so I will just go for it (I am not above breaking the occasional retarded law).

I got about 20000 miles out of my old 33s and they had enough tread on them to last a while longer.. But I went bigger.. Mr. Green

I have been using mudbrutes for quite a while I am on my 7th set.. And like I said I have converted several of my buddies.. They are cheap and they are good for traction and wear..

Do I sound like a sales man???

LOL.. Yeah you do but the price is right and the tread looks pretty good... I got a question though: With the 33x12.5 mudbrutes you recommended do you think my stock steering system will be OK?

Also just FYI: I loved the offroading I have gotten to do so far so much I am now working 60 hour weeks every week to accumulate cash faster... I guess the "Just Empty Every Pocket" thing is true... LOL.

Just get a bigger steering stabilizer, My xj has 33-34s on it and I just upgraded the steering stabilizer and mine does fine, thats without sway bars front or rear either
