Not really ... I wouldnt use any strap that had a metal hook or ratchet on it.. if the strap breaks the kinetic energy that it stores sends it flying back at your truck (or the other vehicle. ) thats very dangerous..

Yea, dont use ratchet straps. I didnt know it was a ratchet strap until it was too late. Boy was I pissed, luckily no one was hurt

It wont hurt the winch if its a 24 volt winch....

I put it on the drivers side I removed overflow bottle and mounted a metal battery box bottom to the fender well with some spacers.. I will try to get a picture later .. Its raining here right now..

Oh .. I found an old picture.. Here it is on the drivers side...

And here is the battery in stock location

Winch is mounted to the drivers side battery and the blue cable that comes to + side is to keep it charged ..

The stock battery is regular except the blue wire running off of it to the second battery. I have since upgraded to a yellow top Optima for winch and moved the red top to stock location.....

i dont think i have any possible way of putting a second battery under my hood.

i know how 2 wire in paralell, but wont that damage the winch?

u are putting 2X the voltage into it, yea its gona pull like heck for a while, but i would think u would kill it faster.

if you look on the websites of the actual winch manufactures they say you can wire them 24 volt . and i didn't say parallel i said wire a series parallel switch .

you could put a battery in the rear of the vehicle .

Awesome. I figured it would be easier to use, and if I'm gonna spend the money, I want to do it right the first time. Thanks.
