Hello to all and thanks in advance for your input...

I've been taking my 2006 GC to the dealership for oil changes and it is my understanding that the vehicle requires synthetic oil. My understanding was that when synthetic oil is used oil changes frequency is extended to 5 or 6 thousand miles depending on the oil used. Is this not true? My dealership wants me to come in every three thousand miles.

I know that oil is important and I do not mind taking care of this if necessary, but if I do not have to, I would rather not throw out $50 more often then I have to.

I use Amsoil in all my vehicles and I run them for 7500 miles between changes.. I think Amsoil says you can go 10000 but I drive pretty hard so I change a little more than that..

Dealer is out to make you spend more money.... Car talk says with synthetic even 15K between changes is OK but if you do any wheeling I would go with 7-8K just to be safe....

If it is a warranty thing you might just have to bite the bullet and pay the crooks.

pfft i change my regular oil every 5000km . your stealership is stealing .

some say it can take up to 15 000 km or more , the only way to tell is to get it sampled which is around 70$ usually , so not worth it for a jeep .

5000-7000 miles seems good to me .

Thank you for your responses...I figured that the dealership was out to make some extra $$$ on me. This is a lease, so I might have to deal with it for a little bit longer.
