They were cutting costs on a rig they were planning on phasing out.

I got the quote for the D44 axle shafts in the rear (at $132 per side, not bad), but I was given a quote for $360 AND $460 respectively for the D30 shafts (probably because of the knuckles?). Roughly how much was your front axles, Steve?

I think I paid around $325...but I talked my way into a deal. While you are at it you should budget in replacing the unit bearings as well. That way you can have complete axle shaft bearing assemblies as trail/emergency spares....

oh yea those are handy, 3 bolts and the entire hub assembly and axle comes out, after you remove the caliper of course

very quick trail fix

The first is for TJ applications, so they'd be too short. The other should fit though (but says they're for "RUBI", so they may not). I'm trying out Kizer's price-tool to see how much I can get both sets for.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to mention 30 spline on the rear 44 from the older model XJs... Embarassed

Kizer, can you fix that?

The D30's in TJ's are exactly the same as XJ's...so they will fit. Same with the D44....TJ shafts are the same lengths.
