You always want to bolt to the unit body whenever possible.. Welding to it is not easy to do..

If you need pointers in building your rocker protection let me know I will give you measurements and such..

Hey thanks... I will get in touch with you when I am building.. I wanna get my axles first. The local junk yard has a bunch of explorers for the 8.8 and XJ for the dana 30 HP... I am not gonna worry about ratios cause I am gonna buy 4.88 gears for both.
I do have a couple fo questions for everyone while i am on the topic:
HP dana 30 from an XJ:
It is bolt on replacement for the d-30 in a ZJ?
Would I be ok running 35s if I put cromoly shafts in it?
Would it be OK even if I locked it?

Ford 8.8:
Not gonna bother with looking for the right ratio or LS since I am putting in a locker and 4.88 gear... This sound like I good idea?

yea the hp30 is a bolt in job, and if you know how to be easy on the skinny pedal then 35s and chromoly shafts should be fine, you have the 4.0 so it should be ok, all depends on how you drive

the 8.8 sounds like a good idea
