There is a housing there, but in the front there is a small opening and all I can see is wires. I don't know if it was a clock, or a compas or what??!!!

I was told that what I am missing is part of a wireless security system. I have found an overhead full console at a wrecking yard, and it is huge compared to what I have.

heheheh thats not what it was for .as far as i know the cherokee never had that option.the early ones had a center console with Temp and compass from what i remember.the later models had same with a little black bulb looking thing.that black bulb was for the key fob for locking/unlocking the doors.

OK, to make thing a little simpler, I went out and took some pics of the console in mine. Now maybe someone can identify it for sure! Mine is an '89

Well I did enjoy the Trek Humor. My previous 4x4, a 77 GMC Blazer, had a switch on the dash marked 'Warp Drive!!' Hopefully someone else will know!

According to J & W Auto Wreckers ( Jeep Wrecking Yard) this piece is the one that controls the door locks from the key fob. Mine is just older than the one with the black bulb.
