I have a 94' Grand Cherokee Limited. It's all wheel drive stock. Does anyone have any knowledge or advice on how to swap the transfer case to give it a 2 wheel drive option??? If so what transfer case should I get? Implications? I know it can be done. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Sweet! It looks like your the man about this i've been researching a bunch on the internet about the swap.

MAIN QUESTION: WHAT MODEL AND YEAR OF JEEP SHOULD I GET THE 242 TRANSFER CASE FROM FOR MAXIMUM INSURANCE OF THE SWAP???

Will it for sure fit on my 94'? I'm a little bit concerned about it fitting because if I spend this money and go to all this work I want to be sure it fits. Problems with size or driveline length to make it fit and done right? Looks like the sun gear has to be swapped from one transfer case to another? What's the deal with the 231 transfer case from the regular body old cherokees? Safer with a 242? Speedometer problems with either? Thanks a lot for any help at all!

Drivetrain is the same length .. You need to get one that is between a 93 and a 95 it will work fine but a 96 can lead to problems ...That was a crossover year for New Venture, New Process.....

There are many different years and models that would work. Yes, you could use a t-case from an XJ. But for maximum insurance of the the swap, like Swamp Boy said, look for a 93-95 ZJ. That would be the most compatible swap. You'll even get to use the 4wd indicator light! Mr. Green
