I'm trying to cleanup an old 91 Cherokee beater and have done most of the minor cosmetic repair work (replace side mirrors, replace window switches, etc). Next on my list is some of the electrical stuff, specifically the instrument cluster has a couple of bugged gauges (temp is always low and fuel level never leaves the middle half), so I'm thinking I'll replace it with one from the nearby junkyard.

I searched the forum but couldn't find anything. Anybody got a pointer?

I may just replace the whole dash at some point down the road (clock is screwy, AC vents are off socket, etc), but for right now I'm just trying to get the guages working so that it's relatively safe to drive.

Thanks

For the 1991 any year from 1991-1996 will fit. My 91 XJ speedo went out.
I put one from a 1996 in it until I got it repaired at Speedometer Services
here in Rosewell GA. It cost $120.00 to fix it. The junk yard sold me one for $50.00. Miles were different but you can swap out your original speedo
with the used one.

Thanks guys. Two questions:

That article say changing the senders is mandatory, but I'm guessing that's just because he went from idiot lights to gauges, while it won't be needed if I'm replacing gauges with gauges?

I thought the odometer could be rolled forward without any trouble (this 91 has 333k miles on it so I am pretty sure I will have to roll forward!). Will I need to find a licensed shop to fix that?

The odometer can be removed and swaped from one speedo head to another. Also the Odometer can be reset but I have not done it.
Check your local state laws on odometer resetting.
