Just wondering if a fuel leak around one of the lines at the tank in a 1996 cherokee is common. I have my newly purchased cherokee in for inspection right now and it failed because of a leak. This same day we checked my buddy's 1989 cherokee and found the same problem on his (his passed safety). I see some recalls but not for a 96 cherokee.

I don't know too much about the location of the leak on mine except around the tank hoses , the 89 looks like one of the hoses and gets worse when the fuel pump is on ( key is turned on ). The one hose clamp appears to be tight.

Any suggestion would be great

Buy the way

Cherokees are addicting

Just go get new lines at the auto parts store. Buy about 6' of fuel line. They are 2 sizes but I just used the larger size and clamped it down good. I think it is 3/8 and about a dollar per foot. There are also 2 vent tubes on top that have small tubing Td together to go to these.
Go ahead and get a new fuel filter since you need to remove the line off it anyways.
I replaced my tank after I crushed it and found out the PO had screwed 4 three inch long screws through the back into the tank. It took me a little bit to figure out why the tank would not drop after I removed the straps. It always leaked a little on steep inclines and the screws were the cause.

went to the place and found out it was leaking on the sensor wires that went into the tank. J B Weld got me throught the safety, I will have to replace but 250 is what I was told the cost of the part is and not what I want to spent right now.

Jeep dealership said they had never heard of problem

$90 for tank at www.rockauto.com Don't use regular fuel line, get hi-pressure or fuel injected line AND clamps, Withstands more pressure.
