I have a 95 Wrangler I bought with an engine knock in a 2.5 with fuel injection. When I tore it down the crankshaft was broken in the middle. If I go to a 4.0 FI do I have to change the transmission also? Has anyone done this swap? It has a manual transmission. I am sure I will need the
wiring harness, what about the radiator, etc????????? Thank you, Duckdown

You could just get another crank/bearing kit for the engine. Thats the cheap & easy way out.

The trannys are different. 2.5L has GM 60 degree bell, 4.0L has an AMC bell

You're not the 1st, certainly won't be the last...

4 cyl Jeeps use an AX-5 manual trans which is tiny and meant for 4cyl only.
Early 4.0L Jeeps used a Peugeot BA 10/5 (aka total garbage).
Late 6 cyl models used AX-15's which are pretty tough, but not behind a V8 Laugh.
You will need the ECM & wiring harness; The radiators are the same.
The 2.5L engine mounts are placed further back on the frame and need to be moved forward and/or changed to accept a 4.0L.

Tardis,
Thank you for the information. I bought a crank and bearing set. I am going to have a machine shop go thru the block. Duckdown
