i have an 87 cherokee 4.0 and my fuel pump is hiting the inside of my tank. when i touch the main fuel hose that goes into the tank i can move the pump around. does the pump mount in the tank a specific way????? also it can slide in and out a bit and that is creating a leak.. any ideahs on how to fix????

I'm not sure what you're saying, but it sounds like the gasket is shot.

the ring broke off the tank along with the rubber o-ring . im guessing . take a picture

how does the pump mount in the tank?? mine is fore sure moving around
and leaking

The large ring holds the pump in place by sliding under the tabs. There should be a rubber gasket between the ring and the tank. With the ring removed you should be able to pull the sending unit and pump right out.
