I got this idea from another forum I was on. The ridges around the intake ports are removed. It basically reduces turbulance at the intake. It's very easy. I've noticed a difference, not drastic, but it was worth it. My ZJ wasn't in need of more power, there was already plenty. I just figured it was easy and quick to do. When I stomp the pedal to the floor it takes off like a bat of a hell and I noticed it's more responsive any time I give it gas! Now I really need a high flow air filter to compliment this and my exhaust. Here's some pics!

I haven't gone inside the ports, except to round the edges. Wink That's the cleanest it's ever been. I gave it a good bath while I had it off! Cool

looks good man.... did you make the holes any larger or you said you just cleaned up the edges right?

i trimmed the middle part that the hat screws to but i havent cut those walls off yet....

i give you +6 hsp and 1/2 an inch flex for effort! what did you use just an angle gringer or what?

hey swampy whats an F&B?

I used a 4.5" angle grinder with a cutting disc. Then filed it smooth.

i think the inline has a TB with only one hole- could be wrong tho it wouldnt be the first time... if so id imagine you could do what he did and get away with a lil better flowage

It won't work with the 4.0 throttle body because the air tube attaches directly to the ridge!

all chopped up and i decided to hone out the ports as best i could with a dremel and polish it up a lil bit

ground the screws down too since they cause SOO much restriction at full throttle

and i ground the lil air hat connecter piece to nothing just about

I was doing some work on my father-in-law's truck and I noticed the throttle body was identical to my ZJ's. His truck is a 93 Dakota 3.9L V6. The only difference is the intake holes are way smaller. So I guess it would be feasable to install a V8 ZJ TB on his V6, that would be a great upgrade.

Well, I couldn't resist! I started marking it up and trimmed that bulky square plate down. Next time I get the truck, I will finish grinding it down. Then, I'll give it back without telling him and see if he notices a difference! Twisted Evil

First, here is the V6 and the V8, notice a difference?

Here is what I've done so far!
