If it's a 2000, I doubt that there's a D44 under it, unless it was swapped in. The 2000 models only came with a Dana 35 or a Chrysler 8.25 from the factory.

Here's a few axle ID links and a pic for reference!

8.25 is on the left, 35 is on the right.

CHRY. 8.25 AXLES ok can you tell me if there stronger or as strong as the Dana 44 ?
I want to run 35s or maybe 37s I would be putting in a locker and I will be abusing them when I go wheeling Unless anyone has a pair of axle 44s or stronger that will fit a 94 yj or just the rear with 3.07 THANKS CHRIS

The 8.25 is stronger than the D35, but weaker than the D44. If you're gonna be running 35's or bigger, don't get the 8.25. You'd be better off with a D44, Ford 8.8 or larger.

I go everywhere. I usually try get out every weekend. Of course not many people like to get out in this cold weather. I wheel with a couple different groups of guys, so there's always something to do. Where in Russell did you go, the pipelines? What are the specs on your rig (lift, tires)?

Its a 94 yj 4.0 w/ax-15 5 speed NP231 w/a tailshaft conversion I think it has a 4in. lift not shur it has 35x12.5x16 mickey tompsons and the rimes are Dick Cepek DANA 30 front DANA 35 rear both stock
i bought the jeep about 6 months ago I havent done much to it besides maintnence and I had to fix the frame which had bad rust Im looking for bigger axles for it because I allready broke the rearend just driving on a main road so the 35 has to go but the 30 might go as well I want to put in a trany with a low first gear like a NV4500 the t-case Im not shur yet
